Destination Kensington is moving to Wednesday Nights - January 6, 2010

What is DESTINATION KENSINGTON? It’s a Friday night-walk about sponsored by participating Kensington Businesses interested in enticing people from local and surrounding neighborhoods to spend time and money at their establishment. As you are probably aware, this concept is not new. Many business communities are hosting regularly scheduled walk-abouts to address financial shortfalls due to the recession.

You’ll know it’s DESTINATION KENSINGTON time when you see the beautiful green DESTINATION KENSINGTON sign and strings of bright lights shining on the exterior of each participating business. These business owners have made the commitment to make Kensington “the” commercial destination. These businesses will be open late (until 8:30 PM) every second Friday, bi- monthly. DESTINATION KENSINGTON dates for 2010 are:

September 8, November 10

The attractions are not limited to the green sign and bright lights. A business community bonus punch card (CBPC) is available for customer pick up during the event. The card is stamped at each participating location the Customer visits and after five stops, he or she becomes eligible to participate in a drawing for goods or services. Each business will be asked to contribute something for the drawing.

Business participation is anticipated to be high, with some business owners offering free entertainment or refreshments. Other enticing promotions such as special store discounts, discount coupons, mini workshops, and fashion and design tips are planned.
